Websitecraft welcomes you to this website. We hope you will explore it and find helpful and interesting information.

We appreciate feedback to help us to develop the site in the future. We would also like to know about any problems you encounter. If this page does not provide the help you need please send us a message using the Contact us page or phone.  We would like to know how you get on.

Please read the background to this website in the portfolio.

Page slow to load

Occasionally a page may appear to get stuck and refuse to load.  Usually the best way forward is to refresh the page or click the link again.

Please tell us if you experience poor performance indicating approximately how many seconds pages take to fully load.  Currently, we do not use a high performance server.

Module positions

Objects such as menus have a grey background with a black title bar at the top like this Menu heading.  You can move the modules to new positions by clicking and dragging the title bar with your mouse.  A symbol showing arrows pointing in four directions will appear when you hover over a title bar that can be dragged.

To return the modules to their original positions, click RESET MODULES STATUS at the bottom right of any page.

Browsers and page rendering

This site should work well with the following browsers and their later versions Firefox v3, Safari v3.1, Opera v9 and Internet Explorer 6. This website works with Google's new browser, Chrome v3.0, but this browser does not have a feed reader. For downloads visit Firefox, Internet Explorer, OperaChrome or Safari. You will not need browser plug-ins.

This site is much better with JavaScript enabled (it usually is) but this is not essential. For example, the top menu will not drop down without JavaScript enabled. To enable JavaScript in IE7,

  1. Open your browser.
  2. Click on Tools button (it is located in the upper right part of the screen)
  3. Select Internet Options.
  4. Click on Security tab.
  5. Click on Custom Level...
  6. Scroll down until you see section labelled Active Scripting.
  7. Select Enable and click OK.
  8. Click OK to save changes.
  9. Confirm Yes and click OK.
  10. Close and restart the browser.

There is a similar procedure for other browsers, for example in Firefox use the Tools>Options screen.

This site is designed for screens at least 950 pixels wide and it will not be easy to use with very small screens such as mobile phones.

RSS feeds

Your can view RSS feeds using most browsers but not Google's Chrome.

Pages that contain frequently added articles have an icon like this RSS feed button at the bottom. You can click this to see a presentation (called a feed) for that page. Alternatively most browsers have a button in their tool bar that can show feeds for a page that has a feed.

To subscribe to the page's feed, display the feeds for that page and bookmark them.  Then in future your browser will monitor the page without you having to visit this website and display only new articles (but not changes to existing articles) on that page. Some browsers (such as Firefox and Internet Explorer) indicate that there are new articles in their bookmarks sidebar.

Feeds for pages that require you to be logged in can only refresh or be viewed if you are logged in.  This works in Safari and Firefox but not in Internet Explorer: in IE8 you will see the message "A normalization error has occurred"; IE7 throws up the error, "This feed contains a DTD (Document Type Definition). DTDs are used to define a structure of a web page. Internet Explorer does not support DTDs in feeds."

Some email programs such as Outlook 2007 will let you set up a folder for your feeds so you can view them as emails.
